0070B: Ending the Weekend Well Enough
Today's the birthday of a good friend Jon and of fellow geek (and one cool chick) Iana. Happy Birthday to both of you! Hope you enjoy today given the meteorological blessings!
It's raining really hard right now as I compose this entry - the rain has continued to be rather erratic all day. At least we didn't get soaked when we went out last night to Malate nor today when we stepped out to run errands. Now it's raining while we're all safe at the Sietch and one can only hope that things don't get to crazy later. I still need to go to work later after all and there are few worse things than commuting in the rain.
Last night at O Bar was pretty fun. There was a lot of good music, a generous amount of alcohol and really fun performances by the O Divas. While Tobie and I didn't make it to the first show, we did manage to get there in time for the second set, which was pretty much a Cabaret / Liza Minnelli set. That totally got me in good spirits as just the thought of the original Bob Fosse choreography flashing in my mind had me giddy. Throw in the bonus of a third set, campy dance routines to the tune of Jai Ho and Wondergirls' Nobody and even The Andrews Sisters' Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy. Hurrah! I danced a little here and there but overall I had a great time.
Today Tobie and I stayed up long enough for the malls to open and we made the venture out to get some bank stuff done and to run a few errands. The bank went easy enough and the bigger trick was to try and figure out how to get the gas range that we wanted. We ended up waiting for Automatic Center to open at 11:00am only to find out the model I wanted was out of stock. So we switched tracks and opted to get it from SM Appliance Center, where it cost about P70 more. I know, I know, that's not that big an amount of money to save given how much longer it took us to wait for the store to open and the hassle of relocating the unit elsewhere. I also picked up a few missing ingredients for my next cooking experiment, so it sorta worked out.
On side note, the prices of goods tend to be rather mixed but I'm really beginning to see that more often than not Shopwise tends to be cheaper than SM Supermarket. No real surprise there, so I guess we really need to allocate appropriate grocery time at the right places. It's just the trick of tracking which items are cheaper where. What fun!
So now we have a proper gas range and now we just need to get our first gas tank and our first pots and pans. Even more exciting!

It's sad that I now believe this exists - it would explain so much!
