00763: Geeky Sunday...Wait, I Keep Calling It That
It's gaming day today! But first, let's talk about yesterday.
Yesterday was nice and lazy. I guess the long work week had really taken its toll on me, and so I really wasn't up to leaving the Sietch anytime soon. Yeah, I was in full hermit / hibernate more, or however else you want to refer to it. So while there were opportunities to go out (as there always is of course) we still didn't given my relative disposition. Yes, I take accountability for our hermitage weekend, hehe.
I've started watching Lost again starting from the second season, since that's where I last left off. I realize now that I had seen more of the season than I thought, although I also remember why I ended up stopping the series. It's more because of the constant need to loop around and around again, showing a particular sequence from different POVs. I know, it's an interesting plot device but one can follow this kind of storytelling only so much. After a while it gets increasingly repetitive and you can't help but feel like the story is not really going anywhere and you're just stuck in a rut - or in this case, the Swan Station bunker. Still, I'm keen on getting to the latter seasons since that's when the show really started to shine and earn major awards along with a huge fan following. In the initial Lost vs Heroes debate, I initially sided with Heroes, and paid for it given the state of the latter half of the second season and of course the fourth season which was only unendurable given the few episodes that Bryan Singer worked on after the end of Pushing Daisies.
In other geeky news, Tobie and I finally downloaded and of course immediately read the final issue of Planetary - the almost mythical #27. Given how long it took them to get around to releasing this issue, a lot of Planetary fans have probably lost hope of the series getting properly finished. As much as I wish they'd actually continue the series, it was still nice that they tried to give the series a better ending. It's interesting that this is technically the first time they've ever explored time travel as a main plot device, and they really did a good job of justifying why. The issue also pays off more if you've read the Planetary / JLA crossover comic given some of the concepts were present there as well. Planetary is Fringe with more awesome superpowers, hehe.
Well, the game is about to start and we're deep into distributing Contracts and experience points before the actual game starts. I'm pretty proud about how I managed to complete my story arc during the last game session. Let's hope I manage to be just as skillful in my dealings this week, hehe.

This comic is really apt given the changes expected in my work this week. Funny that.
